Ideario for developers

Bring your ideas into your AI assistant (Plus and Pro), or read, create, and develop them from your own scripts and tools with the API (Pro). Both are included, at no extra cost.

Connect your assistant

On Plus and Pro, connect Ideario to an assistant that supports MCP connectors, like Claude or ChatGPT. Then ask it to find an idea, read its write-up, start a new idea, or add to one. No key needed: you sign in to Ideario and choose what it may do.

  1. In your assistant, add a custom connector with this address:
https://ideario.io/api/mcp
  1. Sign in to Ideario when it asks, and tap Allow.
  2. See or disconnect it any time in Account › Connected apps.

Tools: list_ideas, get_idea, create_idea, and add_to_idea. Starting and adding to ideas uses your monthly Ideario Intelligence. Your Private folder never shows up.

The API (Pro)

  1. In Ideario, open Account › Developer and make a key. Copy it: it’s shown only once.
  2. Send it as a Bearer token with every request.
  3. Treat it like a password. If it leaks, revoke it and make a new one.
curl https://ideario.io/api/v1/ideas \ -H "Authorization: Bearer ido_your_key"

Permissions and limits

  • ideas:read reads ideas, write-ups, and folders. ideas:write creates and changes them. ai:develop lets Ideario think about an idea for you.
  • Up to 60 requests a minute per key. Over that, you’ll get a 429 for a moment.
  • Developing ideas uses your plan’s monthly Ideario Intelligence, the same as in the app.
  • Your Private folder never shows up through the API.
  • Keys stop working if the account leaves Pro, and work again when it’s back.

Endpoints

Develop an idea

Start an idea, then send what’s on your mind. The answer streams back as server-sent events: delta as the reply is written, reply with the full message, document when the Living Document changes, and done at the end.

curl -X POST https://ideario.io/api/v1/ideas \ -H "Authorization: Bearer ido_your_key" curl -N -X POST https://ideario.io/api/v1/ideas/IDEA_ID/turns \ -H "Authorization: Bearer ido_your_key" \ -H "Content-Type: application/json" \ -d '{"kind":"chat","text":"A way to book tonight’s unsold restaurant tables"}'

Errors

Errors come back as JSON with an error code and a plain message you can show people. 401 means the key is wrong or revoked, 403 means it lacks a permission or the account isn’t on Pro, 404 means we can’t find it, and 429 means slow down.
